Biography

SCelent_photo_200pxI have been creating designs and Illustrations for over 20 years. I am a 1986 graduate of the State University of New York College at Buffalo with a B.S. in Graphic Design.

My first job was with the A.W. Chesterton Company located in the Boston area. When I first started, the company created their marketing material in the traditional way, without computers. About 2 years into the position, the company switched to using computers to create all of the final artwork. I learned to utilize mac software/hardware while at Chesterton.

After 6 years in Boston, I moved to Denver, Colorado, and worked as a freelancer at Miles Advertising who specialized in marketing for the Home Builder market. I also worked for Mac Temps for companies such as QuarkXPress and Leanin Tree Publishers. I only stayed in Denver for a year.

I then moved to Seattle, Washington and started working for the Hacker Group, a Direct Marketing agency. I was employed by the Hacker Group for 4 years creating for clients such as: AT&T, Microsoft, IBM, G.E. Capital Assurance and sports teams and colleges such as: The Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels, Miami Hurricanes and LSU Tigers.

I then began working for SGW Creative, a small design firm specializing in the Home Builders market. The company designed everything for new home development: logos, signage, floor plans, brochures, ads and on-site sales offices. I was with SGW Creative for more than 2 years.

My next employment was with The Seattle Times as a Corporate Marketing/Graphic Designer helping the newspaper increase sales and readership. One of my primary internal clients was Newspapers in Education which used newspapers as a teaching tool for schools in the Seattle area. I was with the Seattle Times for over 4 years and left to move back to Rochester, NY in late 2003.

I have been freelancing in Rochester since that time for companies such as: Nulook Collision, Microworks POS, Benelli Motorcycles, Alouette Tool Company, Drapery Industries and Gear Resource Technologies. I have also freelanced for agencies such as: Dixon-Schwabl, Idea Connections, Point of You Advertising, Young Ideas and Dunn & Rice Design.

In addition, I freelanced with Connection Technology Center (CTC) located in Victor, NY for 6 years. I was initially hired to produce their catalog which at the time was about 180 pages, increasing to 500+ pages. In addition to the catalog, I designed brochures, ads for trade magazines, web graphics and photographs of new products for use in the catalog and web site.
